Chyngton Primary School

Ofsted vote of confidence

School inspectors say that the school is good in all areas; pupils are safe, happy and kind to each other and staff have high expectations ‘right from the start’.

Chyngton school was selected for a full inspection by Ofsted during SATS testing week in May 2022.

From the very start of the inspection, it was clear that inspectors recognised the work of the school during the Covid pandemic and particularly what has been done since then to help children recover, catch-up and move on in their learning.

Children told inspectors that Chyngton is a happy place to be. They said that the school values ‘be kind, be safe, be ready for learning’ match their own experience.

Inspectors were also impressed with quality of education at Chyngton, saying that the school’s ‘curriculum is ambitious’ and that ‘subject leaders are knowledgeable and enthusiastic.’ This means that pupils ‘build their knowledge well.’

The report states ‘Children behave well…they have a voice in the school’ and ‘pupils with SEND are fully included’.

Staff and Governors are delighted with the verdict. Headteacher Robin Tollyfield said that it is the best inspection report that the school has received in the last ten years and represents a resounding vote of confidence in the whole team at Chyngton.
